Dar al-Kalima University Hosts Numerous International Diplomats

On Tuesday, September 27, 2022 Dar al-Kalima University in Bethlehem hosted a number of international diplomats, ambassadors, and diplomatic consulates operating in Palestine at a reception held on the university’s campus.

 

Dr. Ehab Bessaiso, Vice President for Communication and International Relations at Dar al-Kalima University, welcomed the audienced and stressed the importance of the role of the university’s specializations in meeting the needs of the Palestinian labor market and the personal needs of the students. Being the only university in Palestine specializing in arts, culture, design, tourism and sports management, Dr. Bessaiso emphasized the importance of Dar al-Kalima’s relations with foreign and Arab countries. He further highlighted the value of international diplomats visiting the university and seeing its unique qualities firsthand. Additionally, he recognized the crucial role of art in changing the political situation.

 

Rev. Dr. Mitri Raheb, the pastor, founder and president of Dar al-Kalima University, delivered the keynote address, in which he discussed the history and stages of the university's development. He also accentuated the contributions of art and culture in Palestinian society and focused on the significance of women at Dar al-Kalima University, as the percentage of women in administrative positions at the university is 50%. Rev. Dr. Mitri praised the university’s master’s programs, which are unique in Palestine in specializing in cultural institutions management and the arts with various tracks.

The ceremony included classical and Arabic music played by Rouen Arafa, one of the graduates of the Bachelor of Performing Arts program specializing in music at Dar al-Kalima University. A film was also shown outlining all of the university’s achievements over the past 25 years.

 

The celebration then transitioned to a tour of Dar al-Kalima University, where the visitors saw the colleges, master's programs, bachelors, and diploma departments at the university, as well as the facilities including the restoration laboratory, Gallery University Studios, the library, and some of the classrooms. The day concluded with the presentation of gifts and many thanks from all participants.
