The opening of Dar al-Kalima University's Hospitality Educational Center

We are excited to announce the opening of Dar al-Kalima University's Hospitality Educational Center, which officially launched on March 12, 2025, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony to commemorate this significant day.

The Hospitality Educational Center (HEC) at Dar al-Kalima University is set to revolutionize culinary education in Palestine. The center features a state-of-the-art educational kitchen where aspiring culinary students will hone their skills to prepare exquisite food for guests, allowing 16 students at a time to practice hands-on skills. This initiative marks a pivotal step forward in preparing students for successful careers in the hospitality industry.

One of the center's standout features is a glass dome-encased restaurant offering breathtaking 360-degree views of Bethlehem, showcasing the culinary creations of the students and allowing up to 120 diners a one-of-a-kind viewing and dining experience. The restaurant is anticipated to become a culinary institute and landmark in the city and in Palestine, attracting visitors from far and wide. The HEC eagerly awaits tourists to come visit and enjoy a meal, immersing themselves in the flavors of Palestinian cuisine.

The Bethlehem region is a hub for tourism in Palestine, accounting for 70% of the business. The HEC plays a crucial role in equipping Dar al-Kalima culinary arts graduates with the necessary skills and competencies to excel in this industry. Through partnerships with twelve hotels and seven restaurants, students can gain firsthand experience in the hospitality sector, setting the stage for their future success.

The 10,000-square-foot facility is powered by green energy, reflecting a commitment to sustainability. Additionally, the educational kitchen features eight spacious cooking stations, providing students with a conducive learning environment. The new building includes a bright and inviting cafeteria space for up to 90 people, allowing current students, faculty, and staff and space to grab a warm, filling meal in between classes without contending with the ever-growing checkpoints, making it difficult to leave campus for meals.

The center's opening was made possible through collaborations with ASHA, the Dar al-Kalima Friendship Association in Germany, and generous contributions from Bright Stars of Bethlehem supporters. Thanks to all our partners, HEC will help prepare Palestinian students for economic stability and empower the next generation of creative leaders in Palestine. The HEC not only represents a significant advancement in culinary education but also stands as a beacon of hope for the future of Palestine.
